Friends of Genesis Gathering - Red-tailed Hawk Release!

Aug 5 2009
On Thursday, September 10 2009 at the Beech Alpen Inn Pavilion on Beech Mountain Genesis is sponsoring a free event. Join us for another friends gathering at the Beech Alpen Inn for all Genesis Wildlife Sanctuary friends, supporters, staff and board members. The gathering will be at 7pm in the Pavilion at the Beech Alpen Inn. Everyone is invited and we encourage you to bring along any friends who you may want to introduce to Genesis for the first time. We'll have some of our permanent residents on display to greet you. Come watch us release a red-tailed hawk back into the wild at 7pm and stay for a drink and enjoy the outdoor fireplace as we watch the sunset over Beech Mountain in the outdoor pavilion.

Update

Watch the video of the red-tailed hawk taking flight from the north side of Beech Mountain. In this video, our Rehabilitation Director, Amanda Kadlec, releases the hawk after eight days of recovery from an injury resulting from a collision with a barb-wire fence. This male hawk was found in Wilkes County and is estimated to be two years old. These kind of releases happen almost daily at Genesis Wildlife Sanctuary.
