2010 Mini Rangers Camp
Who: All kids ages 6-10 who are interested in animals
What: A three-day course in wildlife care and education. Your child will join the Mini Rangers club (each child gets a badge)
Where: Genesis Wildlife Sanctuary - Behind Buckeye Recreation Center on Beech Mountain
When: Wednesday, Jul 28 2010 - Friday, Jul 30 2010
Cost: The program is $50.00/per day/per child or $135.00 for the whole program (Save $15.00)
Class Limit: Each day is limited to twelve kids maximum. We will have a minimum of three Genesis staff running the program.
Activities include
Hands-on learning in wildlife rehabilitation at Genesis Wildlife Sanctuary.
Walking tours with staff members of all of our habitats and facility.
Exclusive access inside our habitats during feeding (Not normally allowed by the viewing public).
Itinerary includes
10AM-11AM - Children will start their morning working directly with Genesis staff and interns as we prep and feed all 138 animals at the center. This is a great chance for kids to see all types of animals up-close as well as learn about their eating habits.
11AM-12:30PM - Walking educational tour and introduction to each animal
12:30PM-1PM - Lunch (Please pack your child a lunch). We will eat lunch on the boat dock out by Buckeye Lake.
1PM-3:00PM - Nature Programs. We have set up a hiking tour complete with animal tracks and feathers so the kids can learn about spotting animals in the wild.
Friday, Jul 30th at 3:00pm we wil have a closing ceremony where we issue certificates and take a group photo.
